Battery backup for when the grid does not hold.

A home battery stores your solar power for the evening and keeps your essentials running through an outage. It switches over on its own, before most appliances notice.

Why North Texas homes are adding batteries

In February 2021 millions of Texans lost power for days in freezing weather. Since then the first question we hear on site visits is less about the bill and more about keeping the lights, the fridge and the medical equipment on.

  • Switches over automatically in a fraction of a second, with no manual reset
  • Stores midday solar for the evening, after your panels are done for the day
  • Recharges from your panels each morning, so it can carry you through an outage that lasts days, not one night
  • Works on a new install or added to a system you already own

What would one battery keep running?

Pick what matters to you in an outage. The runtime is for one typical 13.5 kWh home battery, before your panels start recharging it the next morning.

Appliances to keep running in an outage
33hours Estimated runtime on one battery
Running load
370 W
With two batteries
66 hours

More than a full day and night, before the panels even start recharging it.

Estimate only. Uses 90% of a 13.5 kWh battery and each appliance's average draw, which varies with the weather and the model.

Essential loads backup

We move the circuits that matter onto a small backup panel: kitchen, fridge, lights, internet, a bedroom and any medical equipment. One battery carries them for a day or more.

Whole home backup

A smart main panel and enough storage to run the house as normal, air conditioning included, with the panels recharging it each day.

“When the power went out on our street last summer, our house did not even notice. The battery kicked in before my coffee maker finished its cycle.”

Battery questions, answered.

Yes. It can charge from the grid and carry you through an outage on its own. Paired with solar it does more: it stores your midday production for the evening, and in a long outage it refills itself every morning instead of running down once.

It can, but air conditioning is the one appliance that decides how big the system needs to be. Central air draws around 2.5 kW while it runs, which empties a single battery in a few hours. Most homes either leave it off the backup circuit or size for two batteries.

Most home batteries carry a ten year warranty and are built for thousands of charge cycles. We register the warranty in your name and monitor the battery alongside your panels.

Usually, yes. We check your inverter and your main panel on the site visit and tell you exactly what would need to change, if anything, before you commit to anything.
